背景

DBC1, also named as DBCCR1 and FAM5A, inhibits cell proliferation by negative regulation of the G1/S transition. It mediates cell death which is not of the classical apoptotic type and regulates expression of components of the plasminogen pathway.DBC1 is located within a chromosomal region that shows loss of heterozygosity in some bladder cancers. It contains a 5' CpG island that may be a frequent target of hypermethylation, and it may undergo hypermethylation-based silencing in some bladder cancers.
